Karen is my favorite model working in fashion these days.  She's gorgeous, of course, a classic beauty, smart in interviews, has great style, and most importantly she shows personality in her photos!  (So many models don't these days with their one facial expression.  I'm looking at you, gap-toothed girls with your mouth-breathing pose.)  As you can see, Vogue agrees with me by declaring her one of the "models who matter."  She's also the one who proved to me that natural blondes with fair skin can easily pull off red, so if you like my current hair color you have her to thank!

This is the high fashion version of a tabloid story - all we or anyone else knows is that Marc Jacobs has left Louis Vuitton.  The entire article is speculation on what he'll do next, based solely on his past and not on any new information, not unlike when In Touch and Life & Style plan a celebrity's wedding based on her last vacation and favorite color.  There's not even any dish on why he left to make this interesting.  LAME.

This is Carine Roitfeld, who used to edit French Vogue.  For those of you who are "The Devil Wears Prada" fans, the French rival of Miranda Priestly, Jacqueline Follet, was supposed to be Carine who was long assumed to be waiting in the wings to take over American Vogue from Anna Wintour.  She's since left French Vogue and seems to be picking up work randomly, being featured here as "Bazaar's global fashion director," whatever that means.

I don't really know how I feel about Carine, style-wise.  In general I see her wearing different pieces that I love, but when she pulls together a whole ensemble I just don't get it.  Here I find the skirt interesting and the shoes are great, but the jacket with it makes the whole thing look matronly.

And then Bazaar one-ups her by pulling together an even more matronly suggestion.  I'm okay with the necklace and jacket, they don't capture the whimsy of Carine's outfit but they aren't terrible and coordinate, but the skirt with they picked to go with it is so bleh and the shoes (which are literally everywhere and I've shown here before) would just be awful with everything else.  Bad job, Bazaar!

More Jane Birkin.  Always Jane Birkin.  British model/actress hooks up with scuzzy-looking French singer back in the 60's, launches a million fashion articles for the next 40 years.  This is probably the prettiest photo of her that exists, but still:  *yawn*

If you don't regularly read fashion stuff, I doubt you've heard of Jane Birkin.  The fashion world is OBSESSED with her and refer to her constantly, so here's a chance for you to take a gander.  Fun fact:  The famous Hermes Birkin bag is named for her, because she decided one day to have them make a purse to her specs.  You know, as you do.  You, too, can own one, starting at $5000.  Pocket change, right?
