I can't speak to Anna Wintour's input into established lines, but if you have heard of Proenza Schouler, Thakoon, Rodarte, 3.1 Phillip Lim, or Prabal Gurung, it is entirely thanks to her.  She started the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and tirelessly supports the winners and runners-up in her magazine.  Sometimes it grows a bit tiresome, but it works and I have no doubt she views their pieces early and offers feedback (that they no doubt use) before she puts it out in every single issue.  She has hand-raised the latest generation of American designers, and I don't doubt their loyalty.  Read more about the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund here:  http://cfda.com/programs/the-cfdavogue-fashion-fund
